Becoming a father for the first time ain’t for the faint of heart- the huge responsibility, those haunting ghosts from the past, that crabby delivery room nurse. The daunting journey sometimes summons serious guts and really requires a sense of humor. The challenges can unfurl unpredictably- leading you to face everything from Little League angst to autistic rage. Or to face the greatest challenge of all: your own demons. “A Day for Grace” follows the adventures of a father-to-be chasing parental shadows to find the light for his unborn daughter. The story of an uncertain birth with unforeseen complications.
The show will feature music from Sam Llanas (formerly of BoDeans).
“A Day for Grace” tells the story of Doug’s journey into fatherhood including the suicide of his own father. Sam Llanas will perform music in the show from the album, “A Good Day to Die” which was dedicated to his brother who committed suicide. Both performers hope to give a voice to those who suffer from the pain of suicide as they share their own stories onstage.
For the upcoming runs of “A Day for Grace” in Denver, Chicago, New York City, and Boulder, Doug will be donating proceeds to Boulder StoryHealers, the Junior Seau Foundation, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
The show are dedicated to Gabe Oderberg and his father, Nate Oderberg.
The show will continue to run in Denver, San Diego, and beyond in 2013.
